Wani and Munirah fetched me from work and took me to Shan’s house. Aimran was already waiting there. Aimran was my housemate in the UK and those three girls were neighbours. Today we met again, had dinner together and played Game of Life, a highly luck-oriented board game. It was great
I dont remember the last time I played a board game for fun. I won too, haha. So far I got good records in Game of Life and Monopoly against them, but I perform extremely bad in Cluedo. Dunno why
Shan was nice enough to give me back the goban I gave to her before. She misplaced the board, so I got home with the bowls only for now. My current go bowls are plastic-made. With these new wooden ones, my go training will feel more elegant… hehe. I had to give the goban to her before, because I did not have enough space to carry it back to Malaysia back then. I nearly got heart attack when she said she intended to use the goban as chopping board in the kitchen.
But now it’s all mine again. I feel quite bad for accepting back something that I had given to others, but I know this feeling won’t survive long. Haha
Anyway, as a little exercise, what can white do here?
Finally, congratulations to Kang Dong Yoon from Korea for winning WMSG Go Gold Medal for Individual Men’s category. A 19-year old world champion ! Go is one of the games where young players are mostly stronger than veterans. Does this mean creativity is more valuable than experience in Go?
Edited : Hah, just visited Ranka. The champion for Individual Women’s category is Song Ronghui, a 16 year old girl from China. Young people are really scary nowadays. For chess event, Hou Yifan, a 14 year old won silver, losing to World Champion Alexandra Kosteniuk in the final. Haizzz, how can kids be so strong !

Wow, those Go bowls look cool. Thanks goodness they weren’t used for chopping boards….
